How does Content ID work?

LabelRadar uses Content ID, powered by ACRCloud, to scan all submissions uploaded by artists for any copyrighted material. ACRCloud offers one of the world’s largest music fingerprint databases of over 100 million tracks which is constantly being updated. If a match is found, we inform the label that a Content ID match has been suggested. However, a positive result could also mean that the track was already self-released and so it is scanning against itself, since the scan is partly informed by content already on the streaming platforms. It's important to note that a Content ID match doesn't necessarily mean that the submission is invalid. It may be picking up a licensed sample that is present in both tracks.

The goal of Content ID is to help labels build confidence in the submissions they receive by ensuring that they do not contain any copyrighted material that could result in potential headaches down the road. We scan tracks after they're uploaded to avoid any issues with the submission process. However, we still let artists know they're being scanned to encourage honesty. We do not show the results to the artist to avoid any false matches and to keep it mysterious.

When the label receives the report, a magnifying glass icon will either be lit up with the genre color if a match is found or grey if no match is found. The report will include information about the reference content ID match, the scan date, and the confidence score. Simply click on the magnifying glass to view the full report.

Match found (top). Match not found (bottom).

Please note that this is not a guarantee and we still recommend carrying out your own due diligence on the track to ensure that it meets your requirements.
